Water Quality Monitoring and Estuarine Environment Values Studies

Friends of Moore River Estuary conducted their most recent water quality testing on 17th August 2018. Although the support of NACC has been lost, DWER (Department of Water and Environmental Regulation) continue to come up from Perth to collect important data about the estuary with FOMRE.

The fifth site was unreachable as the river level was so low following the good rains and the sandbar being out for some weeks. The flow in the river was much greater than usual and one of the groundwater seeps that feed into the estuary could be seen.

Two Masters students came along, they will be conducting a project ‘Consideration of the Value of Estuarine Environments in Groundwater Management -Case study Moore River’, which will be used in future to help determine sustainable water use in the area. If you wish to be part of this discussion please email Linda at lindabob@gmail.com. FOMRE is keen to understand how the estuary works and how to keep it healthy. With drying trends in other parts of the system, we would hate to lose the wonderland of the estuguildertonwa.com.au/loginary as we all know it.
