02 May Nalda Searles Workshop
Moore Arts put on A Nalda Searles Hay Weaving Workshop at Guilderton in March 2018. The reviews printed below sum up a most successful workshop, loved by one and all:
Nalda Searles, is a WA Living Treasure and Moore Arts we were honoured to spend a weekend with her making sculptures from meadow hay and learning her basketry techniques. The testimonials after the weekend were overwhelming. Nalda Searles is a famous artist in her own right so spending time with her listening to her stories and reflections was humbling. Her insight, extensive knowledge and detailed memory was so interesting to listen to. Just loved it. I appreciated the techniques Nalda showed us too and the encouragement she gave all of us. “Think big, don’t be daunted, give it a try…” were wonderful maxims to hear. I very much enjoyed sitting and making with natural fibres. The creation of a shape or an expression with just grass and string was very satisfying. The opportunity to create with a group of enthusiastic friendly people made the exerience even more rewarding.

Thank you to Guilderton Community Association for hosting this amazing workshop. It was 2 days of sharing, laughter & relaxed, but busy creativity. A perfect venue for this activity. Dee Jaeger
A weekend of sharing ideas, materials, conversations and experiences with the added bonus of Nalda’s expertise inspiring and guiding us. Artists and interested creative individuals coming from afar were warmly welcomed and made comfortable for the entire weekend. Couldn’t have been better organised. Cynda Empsall
A wonderful weekend of learning, friendship & sharing with a lovely diverse group of like-minded people, under the tutelage of the Nalda Searles.
