Moore Mosaics – Julie Polette Workshop

A lovely weekend was had by students attending Moore Mosaics – Julie polette Workshop (25-26 August). It was the third weekend school to be held by Moore Arts at the Guilderton Country Club this year.

We arrived to find an Aladdin’s cave of tiles, jewellery, beads, buttons, glass tiles, baubles, in every colour which we proceeded to turn into dolphins, dragon flies, chameleons, mirror frames, and abstract mosaics, as well as house numbers, country scenes, flowers, owls, a butterfly, a wave and decorated bricks and flowerpot. Julie was generous with her knowledge and helped many of us who were novices to achieve beyond expectations.

A lot of the materials we used were recycled or end-of-line items, so we now know where to look for these items and going to the op shops will be much more fun in future.

A big thank you to Julie for a very enjoyable weekend as well as to Wendy and Elizabeth for their assistance. Thank you also to the Guilderton Country Club for their usual high standard of catering. It was a very social weekend for everyone involved.

The following comments reflect the views of the group:

“Thanks for a lovely weekend – I really enjoyed it and have the mosaics to prove it too. Really appreciate all the time and effort that goes into organising an event like this and hope it was successful from Moore Arts perspective, in addition to the obvious happiness of those attending. My favourite part of the weekend was the chats with fellow crafters, a chance to see someone else’s perspective whilst learning new skills. I love being in that mental and physical space that is so different to everyday life. Julie did an amazing job…… calming and positive, it’s a lovely energy to be around”.
