Guilderton Library Memoir Workshop

Budding writers were unleashed at the Guilderton Library Memoir Workshop.  Ever wanted to write your life story or that of your family? Well a few of us took advantage of the course being offered by Guilderton Library on the first weekend in September. Annie Girard, our ‘teacher’, what a lovely lady, not only did she give us the confidence to start she also offered to publish our efforts in a booklet that will be in the Guilderton Library. We started by choosing three photos and then wrote a story for fifteen minutes about the photo. By Sunday she worked her magic on us to bring the stories to life and connect them. Amazing. Can’t wait to see the finished product. People with no writing skills (or so they thought) read their efforts aloud and fascinated us with their ability to bring a photo alive with words.
The ladies who worked in the background received a lot of praise and thanks. Julie Rouse for having the idea and making it work. Maddie, Julie and Jae for providing a scrumptious lunch and morning tea etc. The icing on the cake was that Annie donated her time for free, so the profits after expenses will go to the Downs Syndrome charity and our local St John’s team. The Guilderton Library is a wonderful local resource.
